If you have questions about this notice or how we handle your data, contact us using the details in section 11.
2. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data when you:
- Visit or browse this website
- Submit the contact form or email us
- Set cookie or theme preferences in your browser
- Follow referral or affiliate links from this site to third-party providers
It does not cover third-party websites you reach from our links. Those providers process data under their own privacy notices.
3. Personal data we collect
Information you give us
When you use the contact form (or email us), we typically receive:
- Name
- Email address
- Subject or topic
- Message content
- Any other details you choose to include
- Confirmation that you consent to us processing the message to reply (where shown on the form)
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting environment may process technical data needed to deliver pages securely, such as IP address, browser type, device type, approximate location derived from IP, pages requested, and timestamps. Where optional analytics cookies are enabled only after consent, we may also process aggregated usage metrics.
Preferences stored on your device
We may store limited preference data in your browser (for example cookie consent choices, and light/dark theme if you allow functionality storage). See our Cookie Policy for detail.
We do not operate user accounts, customer logins, or a marketing newsletter on this site unless clearly introduced and disclosed later.
4. Purposes and lawful bases
We process personal data only where UK GDPR allows it. The main purposes and bases are:
- Responding to enquiries and corrections - legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)), and where you contact us about a contract or potential relationship, steps prior to a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
- Operating and securing the website - legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Remembering essential cookie choices and running the site - legitimate interests and, where applicable, compliance with PECR for storage/access that is strictly necessary.
- Optional analytics, functionality and marketing/affiliate cookies - consent (Art. 6(1)(a) UK GDPR and PECR). You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
- Complying with legal obligations (for example responding to lawful requests or keeping records where required) - legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).
- Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims - legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use contact-form submissions for unrelated marketing without a separate lawful basis and clear notice.
5. Affiliate and referral links
Some links on this site are referral or affiliate links. If you use one, Startup Deals Ltd may receive a commission or other benefit. That commercial relationship is described in our Affiliate Disclosure.
Clicking a referral link typically takes you to a third-party provider. That provider may set its own cookies and process your data under its privacy notice. We do not control those practices. We do not pass your contact-form personal data to providers as part of ordinary browsing.
6. Who we share data with
We share personal data only where needed, including with:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that process data on our instructions to run the website and store form submissions
- Email delivery infrastructure used to forward or receive messages sent to our contact address
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where reasonably required
- Authorities or claimants where required by law or to protect rights, safety or property
Processors act under contracts that require appropriate security and use of data only on documented instructions, except where law requires otherwise.
7. International transfers
Our primary operations are in the United Kingdom. Some infrastructure or support providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we take steps required by UK GDPR, such as transferring on the basis of adequacy regulations or using appropriate safeguards (for example the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum to the EU SCCs), unless an exception applies.
8. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including:
- Contact messages - while correspondence is active or reasonably needed, then deleted or anonymised unless a longer period is required (for example a dispute or legal hold)
- Cookie consent records stored in your browser - up to 12 months, after which you will be asked again
- Server and security logs - for a limited operational period consistent with security and troubleshooting needs
You can ask us to delete a message sooner where UK GDPR gives you that right and no exemption applies.
9. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if we become aware of a personal data breach that must be notified, we will do so as required by law.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase data in certain circumstances
- Restrict processing in certain circumstances
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Data portability for data you provided where processing is based on consent or contract and is automated
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
To exercise these rights, contact us using section 11. We may need to verify your identity. You can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to resolve concerns first.
