Monzo Business referral code 4z09hx0: get £50 cashback* (November 2026)

I opened a Monzo Business account in August 2025 to see whether Monzo's app-led banking translated into a simple business current account. My application was approved the same day, the physical card arrived in about five days, and I kept the free Lite plan as an additional account rather than my main business account.

If you are a new eligible Monzo Business applicant, my Monzo referral code journey is activated through the tracked link containing 4z09hx0. Eligible customers may receive £50 cashback* after account approval and a qualifying card payment within 30 days. This page covers the Monzo Business offer only - not Monzo's separate personal-account referral programme.

Quick answer

The Monzo referral code featured on this page is 4z09hx0. It is delivered through my Monzo Business referral link rather than entered manually. Eligible new UK Monzo Business customers can receive £50 cashback* after opening an account through the link and making a qualifying card payment within 30 days.

The offer is for new Monzo Business applicants and is subject to approval, eligibility and Monzo's current referral terms. The £50 reward is not payment for clicking the link, and it should not be confused with Monzo's separate personal-account referral programme, where rewards can operate differently.

What is Monzo Business?

Monzo Business is a UK business current account designed for eligible sole traders and limited companies. It takes the app-led approach associated with Monzo's personal banking service and applies it to everyday business payments, account administration and money management.

The free Lite plan provides the core current account and mobile-banking experience without a monthly subscription. Pro and Team add paid features for businesses that need more administrative, accounting, invoicing or team-management capability. Plans and prices change, so the live Monzo plan comparison (opens in a new tab) should remain the source of truth.

Unlike Tide, Monzo is itself a regulated UK bank. Monzo Bank Limited is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and PRA. Eligible business deposits may receive FSCS protection up to the applicable limit, subject to the depositor and business meeting the scheme's rules.

Monzo Business features at a glance

  • A full UK business current account with app and web access.
  • A free Lite plan and paid Pro and Team plans.
  • Business debit card, payments, transfers and account notifications.
  • Savings Pots and money-management tools.
  • Invoicing, accounting connections and tax tools on eligible paid plans.
  • Team access, expense controls and bulk-payment tools on relevant plans.
  • Customer support through Monzo's app-led service.
  • FSCS protection for eligible deposits, subject to current rules and limits.

I used the free plan and the everyday business-account interface. I did not use Monzo deeply enough to claim first-hand experience of every paid feature, integration or complex reporting workflow. Those capabilities are presented as available features - see Monzo's current feature documentation (opens in a new tab) rather than as extensively tested experience.

My experience opening a Monzo Business account

I applied for a Monzo Business account in August 2025. The application was straightforward and the account was approved on the same day. My physical card arrived about five days later, so the overall setup did not feel like a lengthy administrative process.

I chose the free Lite plan and opened Monzo as an additional business account rather than my main banking relationship. That distinction matters to this review: I have used the account and navigated the app, but I have not relied on it for every part of my daily business banking or tested every paid feature over a long period.

The strongest first impression was the interface. The app is visually clear, routine actions are easy to locate and the account feels approachable without removing the controls expected from a business account. That is why usability received 10/10, the highest usability score in this review.

What Monzo Business did well

The interface is Monzo's clearest strength in my experience. Account information is presented cleanly, the app does not feel overloaded and routine navigation is intuitive. For a startup or sole trader opening a first business account, that accessibility can make the transition from personal to business banking feel less intimidating.

The free Lite plan is also a strong entry point. A new business can open a proper business current account without immediately committing to a monthly subscription, then assess whether the additional Pro or Team tools would save enough time to justify upgrading.

Monzo's broader product structure is sensible: Lite covers essential banking, Pro introduces more administration and accounting capability, and Team is intended for businesses that need multiple users, expense controls and wider operational tools. I have not personally tested that complete progression, so the live plan page (opens in a new tab) should be used for current feature comparisons.

As Monzo is a regulated bank rather than an interface sitting over a separate banking provider, its position is also relatively straightforward to explain. Eligible deposits may be covered by the FSCS, although customers should always check how the current protection rules apply to their business and any other Monzo balances.

Where my Monzo experience was less convincing

Customer support was the weakest part of my experience. The in-app route is convenient, but replies were slower than I wanted when I needed help. That contrast stood out because the rest of the app feels immediate and well organised. Customer support therefore scored 6/10.

Reporting and data portability scored 7/10. Monzo provides statements, exports and accounting connections, but I did not test a demanding reporting workflow or use the account as the main source of business data. The score reflects a useful baseline without claiming the depth required by a more established finance function.

Core features, integrations and automation each scored 8/10. The published product range is credible, but several more advanced tools are plan-dependent and my limited use does not justify presenting them as fully tested. This is an intentionally cautious assessment rather than a criticism of features I did not use.

Monzo Business plans: Lite, Pro and Team

I used Lite. It gave me the core experience I wanted to assess without a monthly plan fee. I would only move to a paid plan after identifying a specific recurring need - for example, invoicing, accounting automation or team access - rather than upgrading simply because the plan contains more features. Check Monzo's current plans and pricing (opens in a new tab) rather than relying on a static price list here.

Is Monzo Business safe?

Monzo Bank Limited is a regulated UK bank. Eligible deposits may be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to the applicable limit. Protection depends on the depositor and account meeting the scheme's rules, and sole-trader balances may interact with the same person's other eligible Monzo deposits.

Read Monzo's current explanations of security (opens in a new tab) and FSCS protection (opens in a new tab) rather than relying on an undated summary. Eligibility for the business account itself is described on Monzo Business (opens in a new tab) and related help pages, including any unsupported business types.

My Monzo Business score

0out of 100

This is Alex Vale's individual editorial assessment using the same ten-category framework applied across Earned on the Side. It is not an aggregate customer rating.

Monzo Business earns its strongest marks for usability and value. The free plan makes it easy to try without a monthly fee, while the app lowers the effort involved in routine banking. Support responsiveness and the depth of reporting available for my needs prevent the score from being higher.

Who I think Monzo Business suits

  • Sole traders and startups wanting an approachable mobile interface.
  • Small businesses looking for a free entry-level current account.
  • Existing Monzo users who value a consistent app experience.
  • Businesses prepared to upgrade when invoicing, accounting or team tools create clear value.

More established SMEs should compare providers if they require complex reporting, specialist service, extensive permissions, relationship management or deeper operational banking. Monzo can still be useful, but the needs of a larger finance function extend beyond the features I personally tested.

Monzo compared with Tide and Mettle

Monzo's clearest advantage in my use was interface quality. Tide provided the stronger joined-up company-formation and startup-administration journey, while Mettle impressed me more as a daily banking account and through its FreeAgent connection. Those are personal observations based on different levels of use, not a claim that one provider is universally better.
