Quick answer
The current Tide promo code featured on this page is STARTUP200. It is a verified Tide partner code that can provide eligible new customers with up to £200 cashback*, depending on which parts of the offer they complete. Apply through the relevant STARTUP200 partner link and follow the current qualifying requirements and deadlines.
Tide operates different referral, promotional and partner offers, so rewards and conditions can vary. This page relates specifically to STARTUP200.
The STARTUP200 Tide promo code offer: get up to £200 cashback*
STARTUP200 is the Tide offer code featured on this page. Eligible new customers who apply through the tracked partner route can work towards up to £200 cashback* when Tide accepts the application and verifies the qualifying actions.
What the STARTUP200 Tide promo code is
The Tide promo code is STARTUP200. It is a verified partner code for eligible new Tide customers rather than my personal refer-a-friend code.
Use STARTUP200 when beginning your application through the correct Tide partner route. If Tide accepts your application and you complete the qualifying actions within the required deadlines, you can receive £75 cashback after spending £100 on your Tide card within 30 days. You can qualify for an additional £125 by opening and funding a Tide Instant Saver Account in accordance with the separate savings conditions.
I have seen this partner offer successfully claimed, but entering the code does not guarantee payment. Tide must accept the application and verify that every relevant condition has been completed. Tide may operate other promotions with different Tide cashback amounts and conditions - always follow the terms on the route you actually use.
£75 cashback*
Open an eligible new Tide business current account using STARTUP200 and spend at least £100 on the Tide card within 30 days of opening the account.
Additional £125 cashback*
Open a Tide Instant Saver Account, deposit at least £5,000 within seven days of opening it and maintain at least that balance for 30 days.
The two rewards have separate qualifying requirements. You can qualify for the first £75 without completing the Instant Saver step. The full £200 is never automatic.

The rest of this review explains what Tide is, how my own application and account use went, and where the service fits relative to other business accounts I have compared.
What is Tide?
Tide is a digital business-finance platform designed around sole traders, freelancers and limited companies. It combines a business current account with tools for payments, invoicing, expense management, accounting, savings and company administration.
Tide itself is not a bank. The Tide Business Current Account currently promoted to new applicants is provided through ClearBank, an FCA- and PRA-regulated UK bank. Tide also operates other account arrangements, so customers should check their account documentation to confirm who provides their specific account and what protection applies.
I found that distinction less important in daily use than it sounds on paper: Tide is the interface I interact with, while the underlying regulated provider handles the account infrastructure. What mattered to me was whether the application was straightforward, payments worked reliably and the tools reduced the admin involved in running Startup Deals Ltd.
Tide's main business-account features
- A free entry-level business current account with no monthly plan fee.
- UK account details, business card, virtual card access and mobile payments.
- UK and international payment capabilities, with charges and allowances depending on plan.
- Built-in invoicing, payment links and transaction categorisation.
- Connections with accounting platforms and Tide's own optional accounting services.
- Expense management, team access and additional cards on eligible plans.
- Business savings through Tide Instant Saver and Tax Saver products, subject to current rates and terms.
- Optional paid services including accounting, payroll, company administration and payment tools.
I have personally used the business current account, physical and digital cards, UK transfers, invoicing, transaction categorisation, accounting connections, support and mobile-wallet functionality. I have not personally tested cash deposits or Tide Instant Saver, so those features are described from Tide's published information rather than as first-hand experience. See Tide's account features (opens in a new tab) for the live product list.
My Tide application and account-opening experience
I opened the Tide account for Startup Deals Ltd in June 2025. At the time, the business was new, so I wanted an account that would not turn the setup process into another large administrative job. There was no material application difficulty.

The business was new, so I wanted an account that would not turn setup into another large administrative job.
A few minutes
Application completed
The application was one of Tide's strongest points. It took me only a few minutes to complete.

The Tide business account application journey I used when opening the Startup Deals Ltd account. Same day
Account approved
Tide asked additional Know Your Customer questions and requested proof of identity, but verification was straightforward and the account was approved on the same day.
Day 3
Physical Tide card arrived
I did not have to wait for it before getting started because I already had access to the digital card.
Ongoing
Free plan used alongside another account
I chose the Free plan and also used the introductory trial of the Smart plan. I still use the Free plan alongside another business account.
The application was one of Tide's strongest points. It took me only a few minutes to complete. Tide asked some additional Know Your Customer questions and requested proof of identity because the business was new, but the verification process was straightforward and the account was approved on the same day.
My physical Tide card arrived approximately three days later. I did not have to wait for it before getting started because I already had access to the digital card. That made the transition from opening the account to actually using it feel particularly quick.
I chose Tide's Free plan and also used the introductory trial of the Smart plan. I still use the Free plan alongside another business account. That is an important part of my assessment: I am not presenting Tide as the only possible account for every business. I use it because it is straightforward, the mobile experience is easy to understand and several of its tools are genuinely useful for a small company.
The Tide features I have personally used
The account has worked best for me when several small conveniences combine. None is especially dramatic in isolation, but together they reduce the number of separate systems I need to check.
Business current account and app
I use Tide alongside another business account rather than as my only banking relationship. The app is clearly organised and routine actions - checking payments, viewing card activity, finding account details and reviewing transactions - are easy to locate. That straightforward interface is the main reason usability scored 9/10.

Cards and mobile payments
I have used both the debit-card functionality and digital card access, including Apple Pay or Google Pay. Having digital access available while waiting for the physical card reduced the delay between approval and being able to begin using the account.
UK transfers and day-to-day payments
UK transfers have been reliable in my use. The important caveat is pricing: the Free plan includes a limited allowance before transaction charges apply, while paid plans include more transfers. A low-volume startup may barely notice this; a business making frequent supplier or contractor payments should compare the current allowances before choosing a plan.
Invoicing
The built-in invoicing tool is one of Tide's most practically useful features. I can create and send an invoice without moving into separate software, then keep the payment and the underlying banking activity closer together. For a new business issuing a manageable number of invoices, that can remove unnecessary setup and cost.

Transaction categorisation and accounting
Categorisation makes it easier to separate types of income and expenditure while the transaction is still familiar. Tide can also connect with established accounting platforms, while its own accounting services add bookkeeping, invoicing and tax functionality for an additional charge. I value the compatibility, but businesses should distinguish the tools included with the account from optional paid accounting products.
Customer support
Support is available through the app, but response speed has not always matched the immediacy of the rest of the experience. I received the help I needed, although not always straight away. That is why customer support scored 8/10 rather than matching the stronger usability and value scores.
Company formation
Register a limited company for £14.99 instead of £100
Tide's company-formation service was one of its biggest selling points for me. I registered Startup Deals Ltd and opened its business account through the same joined-up process. Completing company registration and the business-account application together was a significant advantage: less duplication, fewer separate document packs and a clearer path from legal formation to being able to transact.
Registering a limited company directly through Companies House cost £100 for digital incorporation at the time of review, whereas Tide's stand-alone company-registration route cost £14.99. That represented a saving of £85.01. Prices and terms can change - confirm the live figures before you apply.
The experience contributed to my strong assessment of Tide's company-formation capability. It removed a meaningful upfront cost and reduced the amount of administration involved in getting the business ready to operate.
Tide states that eligible applicants can receive their Certificate of Incorporation within one business day and that the stand-alone option includes a free Tide business account. Eligibility, identity-verification and company-structure requirements apply. Registration and one-business-day completion are not guaranteed.

- £14.99 was Tide's stand-alone company-registration price at the time of review.
- Direct online incorporation through Companies House cost £100 at the time of review.
- Tide's separate £1 route requires its paid Company Secretary subscription.

- Registration and one-business-day completion are not guaranteed.
What Tide has done particularly well
My strongest impression is that Tide understands the sequence in which a new business needs things. I did not have to form a company first, wait for separate documents and then begin a disconnected banking application. Tide allowed me to move from company formation into business banking as one joined-up process.
Onboarding and company formation
The application was quick to complete and approval arrived the same day after standard identity and business checks. Company formation was the standout: registering Startup Deals Ltd and opening its business account together saved time, reduced duplication and cost £14.99 rather than the £100 direct Companies House online fee applicable at the time of review.
A strong mobile experience
The app presents the account in a way that is understandable without a learning period. Notifications, card controls, categorisation and routine payment information are available without having to navigate a traditional online-banking structure.
Useful tools before a business needs a full finance stack
Invoicing, payment links, categorisation and exports give a small business enough structure to begin operating without immediately buying several separate products. As the business grows, Tide's integrations and optional paid tools provide a route to add more capability.
A free plan with a credible upgrade path
The Free plan gives an early-stage business a usable account without a monthly plan fee. Smart, Pro and Max add larger transfer allowances, enhanced support, team features, savings rates and other benefits. I used the Free plan and also tried Smart during the introductory period; the right choice depends more on transaction volume and support needs than on the plan name.
The STARTUP200 incentive
The partner offer is valuable because it rewards actions a new business may already intend to take: opening an account, using the card and - if suitable - funding an eligible Tide savings product. The conditions must still be treated as separate requirements, and the full £200 should never be presented as automatic.

Tide plans: which level is likely to make sense?
Tide currently offers Lite (free), Smart, Pro and Max account plans. Prices, allowances and savings rates can change, so the live Tide pricing page (opens in a new tab) should remain the source of truth. The purpose of this section is to explain the practical difference rather than reproduce every fee.
Plans and prices last checked 1 November 2026
| Plan | Likely fit | Practical consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Lite (free) | New businesses, sole traders and low-volume users | No monthly plan fee, but limited included transfers and pay-as-you-use charges |
| Smart | Businesses wanting more included activity and support | More transfers, team tools and phone-support access |
| Pro | Growing businesses with regular payments | Unlimited included UK transfers and broader plan benefits |
| Max | Higher-activity businesses wanting Tide's broadest bundle | Cashback, enhanced support and higher plan allowances, with the highest monthly price |
My view on value
For Startup Deals Ltd, the Free plan was enough to understand the account and use its core banking features. The Smart trial showed how included allowances and support can become more valuable as activity increases. I would not upgrade solely because a paid plan looks more complete; I would compare the subscription cost with the transfer fees, team access and support benefits the business will genuinely use.
Distinguish core account features from plan-specific benefits, optional paid services (including Tide Accounting), and transaction fees. Free does not mean every activity is free.
Where Tide could improve
Tide has worked well for my intended use, but the account is not frictionless for every type of business.
Support can feel slower than the app
The in-app interface creates an expectation that everything will happen immediately. Support responses have sometimes taken longer than I hoped, particularly when a question needed human attention. Paid plans offer additional support routes, but readers should compare the current service levels rather than assume every plan includes the same access.
Free does not mean every transaction is free
The Free plan has no monthly plan fee, but transfers, cash deposits, ATM withdrawals and other activities can carry charges. It offers strong value for relatively light use; the economics change when transaction volume increases.
Some features sit behind separate products or paid plans
Accounting services, advanced invoice automation, larger allowances, enhanced support and team features are not universally included. Separate the free account's core tools from optional subscriptions and plan-specific benefits.
It may be too app-led for some established businesses
An established SME with complex approval chains, high transaction volumes, specialist treasury needs or a preference for branch-based support may be better served by a more traditional or specialist provider - or may use Tide alongside another account, as I do.
Features I have not personally tested
I have not tested cash deposits or Tide Instant Saver. Any description of those products on this page is based on Tide's published information, not first-hand use.
Is Tide a bank, and is the account safe?
Tide is a business-finance platform rather than a bank. Tide Business Current Accounts promoted to new applicants are provided through ClearBank, which is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and PRA.
Eligible deposits held in a qualifying ClearBank-provided Tide Business Current Account receive Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection up to the applicable limit, currently stated by Tide as £120,000. Other Tide account arrangements may use safeguarding rather than FSCS protection, so each customer should confirm the provider and protection shown in their own account documents. Do not assume every Tide product has identical protection.
The app also provides practical security controls such as identity verification, card controls and transaction notifications. No digital account is risk-free; customers should protect login details, verify unexpected payment requests and report suspicious activity promptly. See Tide's security information (opens in a new tab) for current guidance.
My Tide score
I score every product using the same ten categories, each worth ten points. This is my individual editorial assessment for Startup Deals Ltd - not an aggregate customer rating and not a claim that Tide suits every business.
Tide scores particularly well for onboarding, everyday usability, business setup and value. Customer support receives the lowest score at 8/10 because online-chat responses have not always been immediate. A score of 90 reflects how the service has performed against this published review methodology and my requirements as the director of a relatively new company. Progress on The Project is tracked separately.

Who I think Tide is most suitable for
- A first-time limited-company director who wants formation and banking in one process.
- A sole trader, freelancer or side-hustle owner who prefers app-based account management.
- A startup wanting a free entry-level plan and tools for invoicing and categorisation.
- A small company that expects to connect its account to established accounting software.
- A business that values an upgrade path into team access, larger allowances and additional support.
- An eligible applicant able to use STARTUP200's qualifying card-spend or savings conditions without changing sensible financial behaviour.
Who should compare another provider
- An established SME requiring complex permissions, several approvers or specialist cash-management features.
- A cash-heavy business that would incur meaningful deposit charges.
- A business requiring branch access or a relationship manager.
- A company making enough transfers that Free-plan charges outweigh a subscription or alternative account.
- Anyone considering the account only for cashback without first checking whether the product and qualifying actions are suitable.
Tide compared with Mettle and Monzo
Tide's advantage is breadth: company formation, banking and business-administration tools sit within one ecosystem. Mettle has impressed me more for daily banking and its FreeAgent integration, while Monzo Business's clearest strength is its interface. This is not a declaration that one provider is universally superior; it is a reason to compare the features that matter to the way a particular business operates.
